Researching my family tree of Bree ancestors I came to a brick wall about 1840. I just could not dig back any further. I had a Thomas Bree who married twice, his father (Charles) was documented as being present at both weddings, Thomas and his family appeared in the census through 1841-1901, but then nothing. I could not find any further documented evidence for my Charles Bree.
I decided the only way round this road block was to identify all Bree’s ! The end result, which is still very much a work in progress, is this website.
I started putting all my research into Ancestry.com but found it was too easy to just blindly click and add uncorroborated ancestors. I now use WikiTree as my repository and Google drawings as my preferred method to create an actual tree. If you see a reference eg Bree-123 against an individual; that is the WikiTree reference for that Person.
I have tried to collate all the discovered Bree individuals into appropriate family trees. The challenge was deciding what to call each tree. I plumped for naming them by the origin of the oldest member of each family group. So for example the Beausale family tree has its origins in Beausale but its descendants have “migrated” across the UK and beyond.
Eventually perhaps family trees will merge as I discover an “older” common ancestor that spans two trees. Fingers crossed. But for now these are the current family trees. Remembering this is an ongoing, long term project!
Please bear in mind this is a very long term project with items being added all the time. If you have any questions; I can be contacted here:-
